Paths, Peace, God, Heart & Soul
Paths inside. Where do they lead? Your actions will inevitably follow your thoughts in one way or another. The paths you travel in your mind inside will eventually lead your feet down paths outside. However this is indeed not always the case. What if your mind condemns you? Well we believers in Christ have another party dwelling within us who is greater.
If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. – 1 John 3:20
So yes it is quite common/normal for people to struggle with negative thoughts that are quite contrary to what they want to be thinking about. If we were left to our own thoughts, this struggle would seem ceaseless in the human experience, and some unfortunately do continue living in the land of strife and confusion inside their being. Some never find internal and robust peace inside. Rest for souls.
Our bodies/souls were made to be filled with the Living God. Jesus Christ and all the mystics that followed pointed to the reality of God in us.
Check out the role of the Holy Spirit described by Jesus Christ.
And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me; of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. – John 16:8-11
1) Convict the world of sin because they aren’t trusting in grace/mercy/truth that is the living person of Christ. Where else can a person be washed and cleansed besides using water in a shower, spring, or bath? The Holy Spirit leads the world to Christ, the everlasting waterfall of forgiveness, grace, and free gift of righteousness. No other sage or prophet has beaten death and extended grace and purity like God showers in Christ.
2) Convict believers of their blamelessness, their perpetual innocence and purity, their forgiveness, their permanent righteous standing in the eyes of God because of the blood of Jesus that declares a better/stronger word about them. Aka not guilty – condemnation free zone.
3) Convict the devil of his condemnation and judgment. The devil has been judged
and crushed by Christ. The devil is the rightful one under judgment. The Holy Spirit reminds the devil on our behalf, that he has been condemned and defeated.
No wonder Jesus describes the Holy Spirit as a Comforter for us.
So God does not leave us alone in our thoughts. God is inside us steering our minds towards the knowledge of God, fountains of life, forgiveness, health, joy, grace, and peace.
I’ll close with two things.
God gave us His very own enjoyable and restful peace. Jesus said my very own peace I give you. We enjoy this peace as a gift. Not anything we can control or manufacture. True peace comes from God as a gift and we can only receive it. (John 14:27)
If you find yourself not enjoying your present thought life – don’t wrestle with your own efforts – stirring up strife in your heart and being. Jesus said “don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid, just put your trust in God, put it also in me.” (John 14:1 & 27)
A simple faith/trust in the Present God within you is more than enough. God is for you.
Grace and Peace – from God our Father and Jesus Christ.
