At the start of each year we pray and listen to God on what to focus on as a ministry. This gives us specific vision and focus as a team on what to prioritize.
2021 Theme | FEED - let the message do the work
The gospel is bearing fruit and growing throughout the whole world—just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and truly understood God’s grace. – Colossians 1:6
If a person believes right, they will live right. All our actions (or nonaction) spring out of what our heart is believing. This year we believe God wants us to feed on quality words and messages and preach quality words and messages.
It is interesting that when Peter is reinstated into ministry by Jesus in the book of John - Jesus commissioned Peter to "feed His sheep." God's strategy for the new move of God that was happening in the New Creation Church was to make sure the sheep were well fed.
This year let's keep in front of us the high importance of feeding on God's Word. Notice in the first verse I listed here in Colossians 1:6 - the gospel was the living entity growing and bearing fruit throughout the whole world. It also says the fruitfulness and growth comes by understanding specifically God's grace. As a community let's focus on feeding and helping others understand God's grace. This is where we will be fruitful, grow, and multiply in every sphere of our lives.
The gospel (aka Good News) is alive. The bible says the Word of God is Christ Jesus (the "Living One"). It also says the Word is living, active, and sharp. Paul commissioned the early church to have every word seasoned with salt and grace with one another. We should have the Living Word (Jesus) on our lips not just during church services or teaching moments - but also day to day as we encourage and call each other higher into the call of God on our lives.
Every person must eat earthly food throughout the day in order to survive and thrive. Some food can weaken the body and slow it down. Some food can energize the body better and make it stronger. How much more does what we feed on in our thoughts and spirit matter? The saying goes "you are what you eat." Jesus says his food is "every word that proceeds from the Father's mouth." Therefore Jesus could say "I only do what I see my Father in Heaven doing."
This year, I encourage you, beloved of God, be conscious of what you are feeding on spiritually and in your thought life. Choose to feed on what is noble, pure, good, and lovely. Listen to grace filled messages all about Jesus. Do not tolerate feeding on things that are toxic for your soul. Feed on only the best and surround yourself with people that speak words of encouragement, grace, and peace.
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things. - Philippians 4:8
Jesus said, “Feed my sheep. – John 21:17
The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself. He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it. – Proverbs 11:25-26
Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. – Psalm 34:8
For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. – John 6:55
Trust in the Lord, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass. – Psalm 37: 3-5
