Led not controlled, follow the Dove

Updated: May 31, 2023

Hi welcome to the Bella Eden blog. Today I wanted to take a moment to write about the goodness of God and how He does not control or force us. The psalm declares "God you set my feet in a wide-open space." This speaks of God making us children of God, free to make decisions, free to be.

Consider this verse.

For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit of slavery that returns you to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”… - Romans 8:14

Being led by the Spirit implies that we have the choice to follow the leading. The Holy Spirit is often typified as a dove in the bible. We have a choice to follow the Dove in our lives. To listen to the gentle Spirit of God within us.

It is a honor to hear God's voice. God has made us his children in Christ Jesus. God wants us to grow in Christ, grow in our "sonship." When I consider God's goodness and how he doesn't force me to do anything, it empowers me to listen and want to be led by the Spirit. When I consider His gentleness and nobility and how different it is from the pattern of this world it inspires me to trust and follow the Dove. The actions and choices in my life stem from a love relationship with God, one that is free, wide, and spacious.

Our Heavenly Father does not force us in a corner to make decisions. Another psalm says, "You enlarge the path underneath my feet so my feet do not slip."

As Children of God - we have been set in a broad and spacious place. Free to make decisions, free to listen to God's wisdom and apply it in our lives. God enlarges the path underneath our feet because He wants us to succeed and prosper. He wants our walk with Him to be secure. He wants the path we walk in today and every day to be blessed.

Grace and Peace, from our Heavenly Father, The Resurrected King Jesus Christ, and the Comforter Holy Spirit.
